I appreciate the fact you guys are actively working on the application, but the new form home page is a loser.
The organization of the forms on the left side of the page is a regression from the previous layout. The pop-up menu is pretty much useless. The overall layout uses too much vertical space, while under-utilizing the horizontal space.
I prefer the previous layout of the form home page.
Thank you for your feedback. We realize that there's no perfect layout that fits everybody, but I'd like to make a few comments, as you may not be completely familiar with the new layout yet.
First, for most of our users, the layout of the list is mostly irrelevant as they don't have that many forms. For our more heavy users (and some have hundreds of forms) we focused on making it easier to find the forms you need:
- The form names are not cropped anymore, - The last edited form is listed at the top - It's easier to delete or archive unneeded forms using the pop-up menu. - Categories are collapsable (which helps if using too much vertical space is a concern). If you don't use categories, you can assign them in the 'Catalog' tab.
As to under-utilizing horizontal space, it's a valid point. The empty space is reserved for the properties tabs when a form is selected. We also plan to use that space to provide more useful information about your forms and data.
